Skye Realin '21 took the gold for the 57 kg weight class this past weekend at the 2019 Cadets Pan-American Championships in Morelia, Mexico. Realin dropped her first match against Chile's Valdez Arrigada before going on to win the next three straight sets, defeating athletes from Brazil, Peru, and Canada. The 57 kg finals saw Realin and Valdez Arrigada in a rematch for the championship which the Kamehameha Kapālama junior won with a score of 4-3. Realin's title was one of eight that day for the Team USA women who finished in first place overall in for women's freestyle at the Cadets Pan Ams with a team score of 220.
Realin's Pan Ams win was just the latest in a building succession of outstanding competition on the mat. Realin finished as the 127 lb runner up at the 2019 HHSAA Wrestling State Championship in Honolulu and the 57 kg runner up at the USA Wrestling Women's National Championship in Irving, Texas.
