Re: Suspension of ILH Scheduled Athletic Events, Games, Matches & Meets
The ILH Board met earlier this morning regarding the coronavirus and league operations and ILH President Tate Brown recently informed the ILH Office with the following:
"In response to the evolving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) crisis and in an effort to help mitigate the spread of the virus, the ILH is suspending all spring sporting programs effective Monday, March 16. The suspension will be in effect until Monday, April 13, at which point the ILH will reevaluate the situation."
"In line with current government and medical guidance, individuals that are symptomatic, over 60 and / or with compromised immune systems should practice social distancing and avoid venues and events with large gatherings."
Additionally, during this time of suspended league activity, per the ILH Operations Handbook – Coach/Player Contact Restriction Policy shall be in effect. The no contact/dead period is a specified time span of non-instructional/non-developmental sport specific activity.
This restricted period does not preclude communication between school, athletic department and coaching representatives to team members and/or families of players on the current roster;
Prior league approval for any non-league sanctioned events, both in and out of state, is hereby rescinded for this period. Member schools should note that without appropriate sanctioning, provisions of the HHSAA and/or ILH Catastrophic Insurance policy are not in place.
The information related to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) is continuing to be updated and subject to revision as everyone continues to learn more about the virus.
If you have any questions, please contact me at the ILH Office.
