As some of you may be aware, the CDC and Hawaiʻi DOH have recently updated their health guidelines and school guidance documentation. The most significant change in the updated guidelines is that individuals who are not up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations will no longer need to quarantine after close contact exposure with an individual who tests positive.
As a result of this recent update, KSK will no longer require student-athletes or athletics staff to be vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to participate in school sports effective immediately. This updated guidance is an affirmation that our community continues to grow its understanding of the risks associated with COVID-19 and the individual strategies and behaviors that are known to be effective in keeping us safe.
While the quarantine requirement has been removed, KSK still encourages all individuals to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations as the leading public health strategy to protect people against serious illness. Additionally, we cannot overstate how important it is to stay home if you are sick.
Further information about any additional changes to KS health and safety protocols will be communicated separately.
If you have any questions about this update, please contact our KSK Athletics office at kskwarriorathletics@ksbe.edu.
